Early College High School and Teen Parent Program are hosting New York Times bestselling author, April Henry, October 26th.  April is a Portland author and her books take place primarily in the Portland area.

The teachers have been sharing a class set of The Night She Disappeared, Shock Point and Girl, Stolen.  Each period the books go to a different classroom where the students are given time to read.  Additional copies are available for check out from the library.  The excitement is palpable as the students beg for books to take home or just to get a bit more reading time to find out what happens next.

Ms. Henry will host a 50-minute book club event for the students who have read one or more of her books at 8:45 a.m.  In this club, she will read from some of her books and answer questions from the students.

Then, there will be two 50-minute writing workshops.  (9:45 and 10:45)  These workshops are open to our Language Arts classes and are designed to give students ideas and tips to become better writers by expanding upon events that are happening every day in and around our community.
