Announcements for Monday, April 16th

● Tuesday the 17th (tomorrow) starting at 8 AM all graduating Teen Parents can have their pictures taken with the purple cap and gown. Bring your kids to Mrs. Leighty’s room before you check them into childcare. Retakes if you want or if you aren’t on the board in front of room 125 we want your picture

● Did you know local recycling regulations are changing? Because of these new recycling rules, the only items that should go into your blue recycling bins are paper and cardboard. Please do not put shredded paper into your recycling container. Stay tuned as there is a campaign being developed by Marion County regarding these new recycling rules. Thank you for your help in making this adjustment.

● Have you ever wondered what to do after school? Come join a club!! The poetry club will continue to meet every Monday after school in Mrs. Utley’s room, we also have Magic Mondays meeting in Kresner’s room. If you haven’t played, you can still join, they will provide the cards and teach you how to play! The MESA club will continue to meet on Tuesdays at 3:30 pm, in Ms. Carver’s room. Basketball club meets every Tuesday from 3:30-5:00 pm in the gym for all skill levels. Volleyball open gym will continue every Thursday after school at 3:45 pm in the gym. Come join in the fun!!

● Just in case you haven’t heard, our winning prom theme for this year will be ‘Captured in a Dream’. Look for the posters around the school and Save the date, prom is coming on May 5th!! Tickets will go on sale starting on the 23rd of April during both lunches. Start planning now!

● Last Friday Night, was the last Friday Night Live of the school year! Thank you to all that came out to enjoy the paint night and the fun movie. We especially want to thank the generous donors that allowed the paint night to be held free of charge!

● AVID 10 has a college fair in the gym TODAY during first period. Come down to check out all the great college info!

● Tomorrow, Tuesday, we will be hosting a health fair during the lunches. We will have many guests joining us that day for helpful health information. Please plan to come check it out!

● Teen Parent Program will be having the second in the series of the Ready for Kindergarten- reading foundation classes this Thursday, April 12th. Mark you calendar for this important class!

Mandatory Senior Meeting on Friday, April 13th

: we will be having our next mandatory senior meeting on Friday, April 13th
We will be handing out tickets and getting lots of important info, see you there!

- ECHS will meet at 9:00 am in the Library, Room 155
- TPP will meet during lunchtime in Ashley Leighty’s room, Room 120

Monday, April 2nd Announcements

● On Tuesday April 3rd the 9th Graders will be having a special speaker named Tyson Scott MD during first period tomorrow in Mr. Williams room. Dr. Scott is a local surgeon.

● Our next blood drive is happening this Wed. on April 4th, start planning now to donate blood and save lives. Please sign up to participate and help save lives!!

● The last Friday Night Live of the school year is this coming Friday night! It will be on Friday, April 6th from 7:00-9:00 pm. It will be a paint night and a movie in the courtyard night, so bring your own chair! As always, bring a snack to share for some good ole junk food! Childcare will be available, but we will need to know in advance, please let Tami or Robin know if you would like childcare that evening. Also, If you plan to be a painter, stop by the main office and sign up by Wed. We need to know in advance to have the right amount of supplies. It is only $5.00 for your own canvas, paint, supplies, and instruction. Come and join in the fun!

Monday, March 19th Announcements

● ‘1000 soles’ shoe drive has come to an end and we want to celebrate that we reached our school goal! Thank you to the team that helped make the shoe drive a success and to all of you who donated shoes to a great cause!! The junior class won, and they will be getting a sweet treat tomorrow!

● Spring Conferences are coming! Plan now to invite your parents to come by and visit with your teachers. They will be in the evening on March 21st and throughout the day on March 22nd. And remember to stay strong, spring break is coming!!

● Welcome to Trimester 3, we hope your finals went well for you all!
○ Please double check you have the correct schedule
■ TPP is Pink
■ ECHS is Ivory

● Need to request a schedule change for Trimester 3? Please fill out a counselor request slip outside of room 125 and submit in the basket. The counselor will call you down once the have an opportunity to review your request to discuss. Until you meet with them, PLEASE follow your printed schedule.

● BOOST is back, this Wednesday March 14th. With many fun student focused activities in the gym, art room, library and several classrooms, plan to stay and participate. A full list of activities will be posted soon outside of the library.

● If you submit an online transcript request, please use your Salem-Keizer email, Mrs. Garibay would appreciate it!

● Teen Parent will be having a recognition celebration this coming Thursday during first period out in the portable.

● Do you have overdue library books? Check your school email to see if you do. Remember to bring your books back on
time, Mrs. Rediger will appreciate it!!

● Ask your teachers for more information regarding the “Why College is Awesome” essay contest. It is open to all students grades 9-12. The deadline to enter your essays is April 2nd.

● ‘1000 soles’ shoe drive is in full swing and we need your shoes !!!!! Bring your gently used shoes for any age group, for our school’s competition. Building 50 is competing against each other by grade!! Deposit your shoes in your grade’s bin outside of the main office! The winning grade will win sweet treat. May the best grade win!!

 Did you know there is a six acre organic farm just ten minutes’ walk from Building 50 that is operated by teenagers? During this Wednesday’s BOOST, Mr. Rose-Phillips and Mr. Williams will conduct a walking field trip, rain or shine, to the Marion-Polk Food Share’s Youth Farm to learn about this project first hand. Signed parent permission slips, available from the main office or the library, are required in order to participate. Meet in front of the Computer Lab, Room 156A promptly at 2:30. We will be back at school by 3:25. Bring rain gear and good walking shoes.
