Learning About School Emergency Closures and Delays Due to Bad Weather

Salem-Keizer Public Schools has many ways for you to learn about bad weather causing school closures or delays. These include announcements on the district website, social media, the SKPS Monday Minutes email newsletter, announcements by local media and phone messages to your home.

Decisions about closing or delaying the start time of school are made by district officials by 5:15 a.m.

Local Media

After a decision is made to close or delay school, local news media outlets are contacted. The media will mention the district only if there is a delay or closure.
